Mari Matthews joined BNY April 2021. Mari is Director, Vice Chair of The Bank of New York Mellon Trust (Japan), Ltd. and Global Client Management Client Executive, The Bank of New York Mellon Tokyo Branch. In her current role, she is responsible for the company’s relationships with most important strategic clients, key government and political stakeholders, and overall strategic issues that affect BNY’s business in Japan.
She has over 30 years of experience in financial and IT industry. She proactively managed the company relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including the Financial Services Agency, Bank of Japan and other government organizations, the National Diet of Japan, the US Embassy, USTR, the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (“ACCJ”), Keidanren, Japan Association of Corporate Executives, and other business associations in Japan.
She serves at Financial Forum of The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, is a member of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives and on the Business Advisory Board of the U.S.-Japan Council in Tokyo.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University.
