Tomomi Inada

PROFILE

Tomomi Inada was born in Imadate Town (now Echizen City), in the Imadate District of Fukui Prefecture. After graduating from Waseda University's Faculty of Law, she registered as a lawyer in 1985. After working as a lawyer on issues such as historical recognition and the Yasukuni trial, she was first elected in 2005 to represent the Fukui 1st District in the House of Representatives and has since been elected to seven consecutive terms. In the Abe Cabinet, she served as Minister in charge of Special Missions in the Cabinet Office (e.g., administrative reform) and as Minister of Defense. In the Liberal Democratic Party, Ms. Inada served two terms as chair of the Political Affairs Research Committee, as acting secretary-general, and as deputy secretary-general. She is married and has a son and a daughter. Her hobbies are running (10 kilometer runs 3-4 times/week) and sauna, and she has completed four full marathons.
