Kimiko Aoki

PROFILE
Starting her carrier in news as a local reporter in Hiroshima, Aoki has worked as news correspondent, editor, producer, and bureau chief, based in Tokyo, New York, London and Bangkok, for NHK, Japan’s public broadcaster. She joined the research arm of NHK in 2018 as a senior researcher. Aoki now reports on the emerging trends and challenges in overseas media, with focus on transformative works in the changing media information ecosystem, featuring innovative media collaborations, collaborative works of media and the public, and efforts to achieve diversity, inclusion, and equity in journalism.
