Yuko Itatsu

PROFILE
Yuko Itatsu is a professor at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies at the University of Tokyo. As the Director of the B’AI Global Forum, she leads a research project on the social implications of artificial intelligence, which is funded by the Institute for AI and Beyond at the University of Tokyo. She is particularly interested in the ways in which AI can be used to exclude and include social minorities, and she conducts research and teaches courses applying these cultural and social perspectives. After receiving her BA and MA from Tsuda University in American Studies, she studied at the University of Southern California as a Fulbright Scholar, where she received her Ph.D. in History. Co-editor of Understanding AI: How technology exerts power (University of Tokyo Press, 2023).
