Fumniko Hayashi

President, Tokyo Nissan Auto Sales Co., Ltd.

Ms. Hayashi was born in Tokyo in 1946 and graduated Tokyo Metropolitan Aoyama High School. After working at companies such as Toray and Matsushita Electric Industrial, she joined a Honda dealer in 1977. Saleswomen were a rarity at the time, but she garnered top sales in just her second month on the job. In 1987, she joined BMW Japan. As the first saleswoman at BMW, she sold 400 cars in approximately five years and was promoted to manager of the dealership. Since then, she has served as president of Fahren Tokyo (Volkswagen), president of BMW Tokyo, and chairwoman of Daiei. She has been in her current position since June 2008. Her public posts include Trustee, Japan Association of Corporate Executives and member of Council for Promoting Consumer Policy. She is also a visiting professor at Tokyo Jogakkan College.
Her many books include "Shitsureinagara Sono Urikatadewa Monowa Uremasen (Excuse me, you won't sell anything that way)" (Aki Shobo), "Isshokenmeitte Suteki na Koto (working hard is a wonderful thing)" and "Fushigi na Hodo Shigoto ga Umaku Iku Mou Hitokoto no Gokui (the one extra word that makes work go smoothly)."
