PROFILE

Minori Takao lived in England and in Egypt during her childhood.
While studying international relations at International Christian University, she started working as a freelance reporter, radio MC, and translator in 1995. Her first news anchoring experience came in 1998, and she has since continued that career.
She became an NHK employee, and produces features about Japan and other countries, covering everything from politics, economics, culture, and entertainment. Most notably, she has spent much time reporting on the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and its aftermath. She flew to New York and Washington DC to cover the US presidential election in 2016 and reported live hour after hour the incoming results on election night to viewers around the world.
She’s currently based at NHK World’s New York office as an executive producer. She continues to anchor and produce new programs out of Manhattan.
