Ms. Sakamoto graduated the Faculty of Law at The University of Tokyo in 1995. As an administrative officer/long-term researcher abroad, she studied antitrust and intellectual property law at Harvard Law School and Stanford Law School for two years from 1998.
Her responsibilities after returning to Japan included textile trade issues, revising the commodity futures exchange act, trade insurance, information disclosure, and ISO/JIS certification policies, as well as planning/formulating research and statistics. In her current capacity from June 2011, Ms. Sakamoto studies “new systems for children/child-rearing” and is engaged in gender equality issues.
She also established the “Task Force on Encouraging Corporate Vitality and Diversity,” which released the report “Encouraging Diversity and Vitality of Women: Personnel Strategies for the Age of Globalization” on March 1, 2012.
