Member of the House of Representatives
Upon graduating from Yokohama National University in 1982, Ms. Ebata worked for Fujitsu Limited developing financial systems. In 1992, she received the Master of Science in Management from the Sloan School of Management, MIT and became a consultant for McKinsey & Company. In 1998, she joined Amgen, but resigned due to family obligations in 2003. She later worked as the Associate Professor of Public Relations Office, the University of Tokyo and then, as the Outside Director of Astellas Pharma Inc.
At present, Ms. Ebata is a member of the House of Representatives (elected in 2009). She currently serves as Deputy Chief Secretary of the Tax System Research Committee and as Vice-Chairman of the National Rallying and Canvassing Committee of the Democratic Party of Japan. She is a member of both the House of Representatives’ Committee of Financial Affairs and the Special Committee on the Promotion of Science and Technology, and Innovation. Ms. Ebata also serves as the Democratic Party of Japan's Tokyo 10th Electoral District Headquarters Chair, and is the vice-president of the Political School for Women.
