Masayoshi Fujita

Editor-in-Chief, Newsweek Japan

In 1971, after graduating from Tokyo University's Faculty of Economics, Mr. Masayoshi Fujita began working for Weekly Toyo Keizai (Japan's oldest economy and business magazine) and covered automobiles, pharmaceuticals and financing. He participated in the launch of the Japanese-language version of Newsweek in 1985. In 1991, after resigning as a managing editor at Newsweek Japan, he helped launch the Japanese-language versions of Business Week and Time before returning to his previous post in 1993. Mr. Fujita was named Editor of Newsweek Japan in 1994. He contributes a weekly column to Newsweek Online and Newsweek Mail Magazine. He was made Editor-in-Chief in 2001.
