Yuko Arimori

PROFILE

Yuko Arimori is the winner of two Olympic marathon medals, silver in Barcelona and bronze in Atlanta. She retired from professional running in 2007.
In 1998 she established an NPO, Hearts of Gold, of which she is President. She also established RIGHTS, Inc. a management company for athletes in 2002.
She is currently a member of the IOC The Sport and Active Society Commission, the Director of the Japan Association of Athletics Federations Director, Board Chair of the Special Olympics Nippon, and Vice Chairman, of the Japan Association for University Athletics and Sport
She has also served in the past as a member of the Women's Committee of th International Association of Athletics Federation Women's Committee and Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Ms. Arimori was the first Japanese to be awarded the IOC Women and Sport Award in June 2010
In December the same year, she was decorated with the Royal Order of Monisaraphon, Kingdom of Cambodia 2010
