Masahiro Ota

Mr. Ota was born in 1961. After graduating from Kobe University's Graduate School of Agricultural Science, he joined Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd. and engaged in chocolate development in the Confectionary R&D Laboratory. He later attended graduate school at the University of Texas and earned an MBA. After returning to Japan, he worked in confectionary product development. As brand manager for Pocky, he was responsible for new product development, promotion strategies, market launch measures including sales strategies, and product renewal. During the ten years he held this position, he developed many new products including Men's Pocky and Mousse Pocky.
After gaining experience as general manager for the overall chocolate category, he left Ezaki Glico. Now with the Japan Productivity Center, Mr. Ota works mainly as a marketing consultant for food manufacturers and conducts company and public seminars. At the same time, he is branching out to human resource education through stratified training and coaching and teaches product development and marketing at higher education institutions. He is also the author of "Hit Shohinga Omoshiroihodoni Kaihatsu Dekiru Hon (Product Development Made Easy)" (Chukei Publishing).
