Eun-Mi Chae

Managing Director of FedEx Korea

She oversees all of the company's operations in Korea, a fast-growing market for express shipping and logistics service, planning and executing the overall strategies.

Chae has more than 23 years of experience in working in express shipping and airlines. Prior to joining FedEx, she worked for Korean Air and Flying Tigers, where at the age of 28 she became the youngest division manager in Korea's airline industry.

In 1991, Chae joined FedEx Korea, initially serving as the company's Customer Service Manager and in 2000, when FedEx became a separate corporation in Korea, she was promoted to her first senior management role overseeing the company's ground operations. Her career took another great leap in 2004 when she was appointed Managing Director of Human Resources for FedEx North Asia Pacific, with responsibility for 3,000 employees in Japan, Guam, South Korea and Taiwan. She was the first Korean to hold this position. In 2006, Chae also became the first Korean female to hold a Country Managing Director position at any multinational express company in Korea.

Chae is a two-time recipient of FedEx's Five Star Award, taking home this honor, which recognizes employee excellence, in 2001 and 2003. The company also honored her with its Great Manager Award in 1995 when she was the team leader of Customer Service department of West Japan.

Born August 10, 1962, in Seoul, South Korea, Chae graduated from Ewha Women's University with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in French Education. She also received her MBA from Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration in 1999.
