Makoto Tange

Actor/Producer, Business Trainner

Mr. Tange graduated from Waseda University with a major in theatrical art. In 1982, he joined Yuko Senga Unit where he assisted in production until 2000. In 1983, he founded Karura-sha and managed both companies at the same time. In 2000, he participated in Playback-AZ, the Playback Theatre performance group. Based in Tokyo, his performances are staged throughout Japan, Europe, America and East Asia. His rich experience and knowledge, ranging from folk entertainment to modern theatrical performances, influence his work. Starting 2002, he wrote and produced "Jofuku-san" and "Tennyo Kagura" at the Kumano Theatrical Festival. In 2004, he appeared in the TSC "Three Daughters of Lear." In 2005, he performed in Singapore with the Playback-AZ, and a performance in Brazil is scheduled for 2007. Mr. Tange also conducts non-verbal communication seminars teaching vocal production, facial expressions, and voicing methods. He is an instructor at various workshops held nationwide, and has also conducted a workshop in 1996 at the Krakow Theatre School in Poland. Mr. Tange is a member of the International Theater Institute (I.T.I.)
