Yoshiyuki Momose

Director, Studio Ghibli

Mr. Momose was born in Tokyo in 1953. He joined Studio Ghibli after workingon the layout design and assistant supervising animator of "Grave of theFireflies" (1988) directed by Isao Takahata. Since then he has worked on thestoryboards of "Only Yesterday" (1991) and "Pom poko" (1994). In "MyNeighbors the Yamadas"(1999), he introduced a new range of visual design asthe associate director, before directing his first movie for the cinema "theGIBLIES episode2" (2002).
He also produced a series of commercials for House Foods (2003 & 2004) anddirected "portable Airport" (2004), "space station No. 9" and "The Aeropolis Project" (2005) for the music unit "capsule." (Those three works have beenreleased under the title of "Judy Jedy.") Mr. Momose has also worked onillustrations for various books including "Teenagers Learn What They Live"(PHP Publishing) and "Saito Takashi's Ikkini Yomeru! Meisakusen"("Masterpieces Selected by Takashi Saito To Read In One Go!"), and "Kaze noYakata no Monogatari" ("Story of the Windy Hall") in the monthly magazine"Shonen Sirius" (Kodansha).
